Widener men's swimming team fought valiantly in a 142-118 loss to Division I Drexel and the women were dealt a 193-68 setback at Schwartz Center.
Junior Jesse Bregman (Oreland, PA) won twice for the Pride (0-1), taking the 50-yard freestyle in 22.18 seconds and the 100-yard freestyle in 47.82 seconds. Sophomore Joe Deighan (Wyomissing, PA) captured the 200-yard IM in 2:00.12.
Senior Matt Slomiany (Lansdale, PA) was second in the 1,000-yard freestyle in 10:37.23 and the 500-yard freestyle in 5:06.94. Freshman Michael Roth (Columbia, MD) ended second in the 100-yard backstroke in 55.86 seconds and the 200-yard backstroke in 2:02.56.
Freshman Kelsey Lake (Ijamsville, MD) had two second-place showings for the women (0-1). She closed the 200-yard freestyle in 2:02.37 and the 200-yard backstroke in 2:17.82.
Widener returns to action on October 31 at Scranton, beginning at 1:00 pm.
