Widener faced a formidable foe in top-ranked and unbeaten Messiah, suffering a 4-1 Commonwealth Conference defeat in Grantham, PA.

The Falcons (13-0, 4-0 CC) opened the scoring in the 10th minute on a goal by Katie Love, who scored twice, and held a 3-0 lead at halftime.  Messiah tacked on one more in the 48th minute to take a 4-0 lead.  Kourtney Ehly also scored twice for the Falcons and assisted both of Love's goals.

Ellen Etzweiler (Landisville, PA) assisted fellow senior Jackie Elliott (Upper Darby, PA) in the 67th minute for Widener's goal.

Junior Megan Purcell (Perkasie, PA) made 15 saves for the Pride (8-4, 1-2).

Widener on Wednesday travels to Reading, PA for a Commonwealth Conference contest against Alvernia at 4:00 pm.
