Widener put up a valiant effort against top-ranked Messiah before suffering a 3-0 Commonwealth Conference setback at Leslie C. Quick Jr. Stadium.

Amanda Naeher and Erin Hench scored 95 seconds apart to give the Falcons a 2-0 lead just 18:29 into the match.  Corinne Wulf tallied in the 72nd minute.

Naeher had six shots for Messiah (12-0-1, 2-0 CC), which finished with a 12-0 edge.

Senior Alee Gunter (Maple Shade, NJ) made four saves over 36 minutes and freshman Vanessa Hejnas (Delran, NJ) had two in 41 minutes for the Pride (10-2-2, 1-1).

Widener on Wednesday closes its three-game homestand against Alvernia, beginning at 7:00 pm.
