Sophomore Colleen Cormier (Westampton, NJ) scored in the fourth minute to give Widener a lead it would not relinquish in a 3-0 Commonwealth Conference defeat of Albright at Edith R. Dixon Field.

Cormier received a pass from senior Jessica Gonzalez (Eastampton, NJ) and buried it for what proved to be the game-winning goal just 3:18 into the game.  Cormier took six shots for the Pride (7-3, 1-1 CC), who outshot Albright 16-5 that included a 10-2 second half advantage.

Widener padded its lead in the 56th minute when Natalie Gifford (Morton, PA) assisted fellow sophomore Kate Fetterman (Camden, ME).  Senior Jackie Elliott (Upper Darby, PA) tallied an unassisted goal with less than five minutes left to secure the win.

Junior Megan Purcell (Perkasie, PA) recorded the shutout making four saves for Widener.

Kaitlyn Johnstone made 12 saves for the Lady Lions (5-9, 1-3).

The victory was the 99th for Larissa Gillespie as head coach.  In her 10th season and already the program's winningest coach, she sports a 99-68 record.

Widener on Thursday visits Gwynedd-Mercy at 7:00 pm.
