Widener saw its four-game winning streak snapped with an 85-75 Commonwealth Conference loss at Lebanon Valley in Annville, PA.
The Dutchmen (9-9, 2-4 CC) put away the game with an 18-9 run over 5 1/2 minutes for a 77-64 lead with 2:06 left. Dan Dunkelberger poured in 10 of his 12 points during that span.
Lebanon Valley enjoyed the fact it hit 21-for-22 from the line in the second half, as opposed to 1-for-2 over the first 20 minutes. Widener (14-5, 4-2) shot only 7-for-9 from the stripe in the second half and 10-for-16 overall.
Charles Jones (Philadelphia, PA) poured in 20 points, fellow senior Matt Sosna (Stratford, NJ) had 14, junior Jamarr Johnson (Pittsgrove, NJ) scored 12 and sophomore Jarrell Nelson (Waldorf, MD) netted 11 for Widener. The visitors shot 51 percent (31-of-61) from the field, but only 3-of-16 from 3-point range.
Joe Meehan scored 20 points with Kyle Enoch adding 18 and four 3-pointers for the Dutchmen, who shot 53 percent (28-of-53) from the floor and 7-of-14 from beyond the arc. Grant Becker netted 12 points with Dunkelberger hauling in eight rebounds.
The loss drops Widener into a tie with Elizabethtown atop the conference.
Widener next Tuesday visits Arcadia as part of a doubleheader with the women's team. The women's game begins at 6:00 pm, followed by the men's contest at 8:00 pm.
