Senior Matt Sosna (Stratford, NJ) poured in a career-best 30 points for Widener, which pulled away in overtime for a 75-66 victory at Immaculata and its fourth straight win.
Sosna buried a 3-pointer with 3:25 left in overtime which began a 12-0 run and gave Widener a 66-63 cushion. The Pride shot 9-of-10 from the line in the extra session, with senior Charles Jones (Philadelphia, PA) hitting 6-for-6, and held the Mighty Macs to just 1-of-11 from the field in that span.
Sosna's layup with 1:36 to play in regulation brought Widener (14-4) to a 59-59 tie. He nailed two from the stripe with 38 seconds remaining for a 61-59 lead.
Kyle Finklea missed a shot for Immaculata (5-10) and Sean Fordham grabbed the offensive rebound. He was fouled and hit two from the line with 9.9 seconds remaining for a 61-61 tie.
The Pride had one last shot at the end of regulation, but Jones' basket was ruled after the buzzer.
Sosna shot 9-of-15 from the floor and 8-of-9 from the line to go with nine rebounds. Jones netted 21 points, including 11-for-12 from the line, and junior Jamarr Johnson (Pittsgrove, NJ) ended with 13 and 11.
Finklea scored 16 points, John Boyd netted 15 and Fordham had 12 for Immaculata, which shot only 10-of-42 from the field after intermission and wasted a 12-point first-half lead.
Widener on Wednesday visits Lebanon Valley at 8:00 pm.
