Widener's men's swimming team notched a 79-62 Middle Atlantic Conference win over Elizabethtown at Schwartz Center and the women dropped a 110-95 meet.
For the men, freshman Joe Deighan (Wyomissing, PA) took the 200-yard IM in a pool record time of 1:58.02. He also broke the Widener record in the 200-yard backstroke, stopping the clock in 1:56.30.
Junior Matt Slomiany (Lansdale, PA) won the 1,000-yard freestyle in 10:22.81, freshman Jordan Mulligan (Dingmans Ferry, PA) grabbed the 200-yard freestyle in 1:51.89 and sophomore Jesse Bregman (Oreland, PA) took the 50-yard freestyle in 22.60 seconds for the Pride (6-2, 4-0 MAC).
The men's 400-yard medley relay team won in 3:56.22 and was comprised of senior Shawn McDevitt (Drexel Hill, PA), freshman Sean Corcoran (Newtown, PA), junior Matt Rhoads (Glenolden, PA) and sophomore Greg Golden (Vineland, NJ).
Freshman Stephanie Mielach (Toms River, NJ) won twice for the women, taking the 1,000-yard freestyle in 11:29.99 and the 500-yard freestyle in 5:36.64. Sophomore Molly Bendzyn (Cherry Hill, NJ) grabbed the 200-yard backstroke in 2:21.83 and freshman Carlee Moir (Broomall, PA) won the 200-yard butterfly in 2:34.00.
The women's 400-yard medley relay team was victorious in 4:23.14 and was made up of Bendzyn, and juniors Tyla Conicello (West Conshohocken, PA), Elin Berlin (Wayne, PA) and Emma Thrasher (Gettysburg, PA).
Widener on Wednesday closes its dual-meet schedule at home against Division I Delaware, beginning at 6:00 pm.
