Sophomore Caryinna Yenchak (Ashley, PA), junior Kim Sharpless (Millville, NJ) and freshman Brittany Harvis (Delran, NJ) each tied the school record with three goals, helping Widener to an 11-0 rout at Penn State Abington.
Yenchak, Sharpless and Harvis bring the total of Widener plays with three goals in a game to 11. Junior Sam Baer (Lancaster, PA) also accomplished the feat September 3 against Neumann.
Freshman Brittany Balentine (Medford, NJ) scored twice with Baer, Casey LeRoy (Washington Twp., NJ), fellow junior Ashley Koroncai (Oreland, PA) and sophomore Emily Asher (Lansdale, PA) dishing two assists apiece. Balentine, Sharpless and sophomore Jessie Furia (Morton, PA) each notched an assist.
Junior Alee Gunter (Maple Shade, NJ) got the win in net and freshman Andrea Lorusso (Cinnaminson, NJ) made three saves for the Pride (3-3-1).
The margin of victory breaks the school record previously set last season when Widener notched a 12-2 win over Penn State Abington on September 29, 2007. That game also saw the Pride set the school record most goals.
Widener on Wednesday hosts Goucher, beginning at 4:00 pm at Leslie C. Quick Jr. Stadium.
