Sophomore Justin Hovaker (Pasadena, MD) scored in the 32nd minute off a feed from freshman Preston Dudley (Grasonville, MD), lifting Widener to a 1-0 triumph at Philadelphia Biblical in Langhorne, PA.
Dudley lifted a bending service over the Crimson Eagles' defense and Hovaker was able to boot a half volley into the top corner for his first goal of the year.
Dudley and freshman Bahae Boutayeb (Philadelphia, PA) each had four shots for Widener (2-2-1), which ended with a 16-10 advantage. Junior Hamed Correa (Cali, Colombia) closed with five saves.
Jeremy Dunham posted three shots and Andy Ecker made 10 saves for the Crimson Eagles (0-3).
