Jamarr Johnson's First Double-Double Helps Men's Basketball to 58-44 Victory Over Lebanon Valley

2/13/08 -- Sophomore Jamarr Johnson (Pittsgrove, NJ) had 10 points and a career-high 11 rebounds to notch his first career double-double for Widener, 58-44 winners over Commonwealth Conference foe Lebanon Valley at Schwartz Center.

The Pride (18-4, 4-3 CC) opened a 35-20 halftime lead by shooting 57 percent (13-of-23) from the floor and holding the Flying Dutchmen to 41 percent (9-of-22). Johnson had seven points and five rebounds in the half with junior Matt Sosna (Stratford, NJ) adding six.

LVC used a 10-2 run to close to 48-40 with 5:58 left, thanks to five points from Zachary Hoover. But Widener scored seven straight for a 55-40 cushion with 2:19 left as junior Charles Jones (Philadelphia, PA) scored four points and Johnson netted three.

Johnson shot 8-for-10 from the line for Widener, which hit 13-for-18 overall. Sosna had 11 points and seven rebounds with freshman Branden Washington (Elkridge, MD) netting 10 points.

James Shinn scored nine points and Grant Becker added eight for LVC (8-14, 2-5), which shot 38 percent (17-of-45) overall and only 3-of-11 from 3-point range.

Widener, ranked third earlier today in the NCAA Mid-Atlantic Region Poll, on Saturday visits Messiah at 4:00 pm. The Falcons are ranked fourth in the poll.
