Widener's men's swimming team won its fourth straight with a 101-87 victory over Washington (MD) in Chestertown, MD and the women dropped a 114-68 contest.
Sophomore Jesse Bregman (Oreland, PA) won the 50-yard freestyle in 23.00 seconds and the 100-yard freestyle in 49.59 seconds. Freshman Joe Deighan (Wyomissing, PA) took the 1,000-yard freestyle in 10:08.32 to break the mark at the Casey Swim Center and the 200-yard backstroke in 1:59.40.
Senior Matt Slomiany (Lansdale, PA) grabbed the 200-yard IM in 2:07.20 and freshman Jordan Mulligan (Dingmans Ferry, PA) took the 200-yard freestyle in 1:51.97. The men's 400-yard medley relay team won in 3:46.20 and was comprised of Bregman, senior Shawn McDevitt (Drexel Hill, PA), junior Matt Rhoades (Glenolden, PA) and freshman Sean Corcoran (Newtown, PA).
For the women, senior Samantha Pitts (Tamaqua, PA) grabbed the 200-yard breaststroke in 2:50.93 and junior Elin Berlin (Wayne, PA) took the 50-yard freestyle in 26.93 seconds.
The women's 200-yard freestyle relay team won in 1:46.84 and was comprised of Berlin, seniors Tyla Conicello (West Conshohocken, PA) and Meghan Sands (Easton, PA), and freshman Taylor Tomlinson (Norristown, PA).
Widener on Saturday and Sunday partakes in the Franklin and Marshall in Lancaster, PA.
