Widener's men's swimming team posted a 107-89 Middle Atlantic Conference victory over Albright and the women were dealt a 137.5-66.5 setback at Schwartz Center.
Sophomore Jesse Bregman (Oreland, PA) won three times, taking the 100-yard freestyle in 49.37 seconds and the 200-yard freestyle in 1:49.08 for Widener (2-1, 1-0 MAC). He also was part of the 400-yard medley relay team that won in 3:43.73 and was comprised of senior Shawn McDevitt (Drexel Hill, PA), junior Matt Rhoads (Glenolden, PA) and freshman Sean Corcoran (Newtown, PA).
Freshman Joe Deighan (Wyomissing, PA) captured the 200-yard IM in 2:00.77 and the 500-yard freestyle in 4:58.07. Rhoads won the 200-yard butterfly in 2:05.81 and freshman Jordan Mulligan (Dingmans Ferry, PA) grabbed the 50-yard freestyle in 22.65 seconds.
For the women, junior Elin Berlin (Wayne, PA) won the 200-yard breaststroke in 2:38.30 and sophomore Molly Bendzyn (Cherry Hill, NJ) took the 200-yard backstroke in 2:19.50 for the Pride (0-3, 0-1).
Albright's women are 3-0 both overall and in the MAC. The men are 2-1 overall and in the MAC.
Widener is home next Saturday against FDU-Florham, beginning at 2:00 pm.
