Widener's women's swimming team notched a 108-79 Middle Atlantic Conference victory over FDU-Florham and the men posted a 54-29 triumph at Schwartz Center.
The women (1-3, 1-1 MAC) saw junior Emma Thrasher (Gettysburg, PA) take the 100-yard backstroke in 1:04.91 and the 200-yard IM in 2:26.35. Freshman Taylor Tomlinson (Norristown, PA) also won twice, grabbing the 100-yard freestyle in 58.26 seconds and the 200-yard freestyle in 2:06.24.
Junior Tyla Conicello (West Conshohocken, PA) won the 50-yard freestyle in 26.10 seconds, Stephanie Mielach (Toms River, NJ) grabbed the 1,000-yard freestyle in 11:45.18 and fellow freshman Corinne Parrotti (Southington, CT) took the 100-yard butterfly in 1:11.11.
The women's 200-yard medley relay team was victorious in 2:01.79 and was comprised of Conicello, Samantha Pitts (Tamaqua, PA), fellow senior Meghan Sands (Easton, PA) and sophomore Molly Bendzyn (Cherry Hill, NJ).
On the men's side in races that scored points, freshman Joe Deighan (Wyomissing, PA) won the 200-yard freestyle in 1:51.72 and sophomore Justin Gorbey (Secane, PA) took the 50-yard freestyle in 23.09 seconds for the Pride (3-1, 2-0).
The men's 200-yard medley team won in 1:42.99 and was made up of senior Shawn McDevitt (Drexel Hill, PA), sophomore Jesse Bregman (Oreland, PA), Sean Corcoran (Newtown, PA) and fellow freshman Jordan Mulligan (Dingmans Ferry, PA).
Widener is off until December 2, when it visits Washington (MD) for a 6:00 pm meet.
