Widener faced a daunting task against No. 10 Rowan and was dealt a 5-1 setback at Edith R. Dixon Field.

Leading 1-0 at halftime, the Profs (8-2) exploded for three goals in the first 7:18 of the second half for a 4-0 margin.  Nicole Valianti tallied 48 seconds in, Lauren Ross scored 62 seconds after that and Amanda Greene capped the spurt.

Ross opened the scoring in the 30th minute and Lauren Conner tallied in the 67 minute for Rowan.

Junior Jackie Elliott (Upper Darby, PA) netted her fourth goal of the season for the Pride (4-7) off an assist from sophomore Megan Scarpinato (Sewell, NJ).

Sophomore Megan Purcell (Perkasie, PA), the reigning Commonwealth Conference Goalkeeper/Defender of the Week, had 12 saves for Widener.

Widener hits the road Saturday to open league play against Albright, beginning at 12:00 noon in Reading, PA.
