Women's Soccer Falls, 4-0, at No. 7 Messiah

(boxscore)

Widener ran into a formidable opponent in No. 7 Messiah and had its four-game winning streak snapped with a 4-0 loss in both teams Commonwealth Conference opener.

Messiah (10-0-2, 1-0 CC) was limited to just one goal in the first half, but it would be all it would need as Amanda Naeher scored in the 20th minute.

Erin Hench tallied in the 60th minute off a feed from Rachel Horning and Kelsey Gorman scored six minutes later thanks to Molly Bietz' pass. Sarah Henningsen found the back of the net in the 81st minute to finish the scoring.

Junior Alee Gunter (Maple Shade, NJ) made six saves and sophomore Rochele Jacobs (Northfield, NJ) had three for the Pride (5-4-1, 0-1).

Hench closed with eight shots for the Falcons.

Widener on Tuesday hosts Wesley at 7:00 pm.
