Jessica Gonzalez Scores Twice for Field Hockey in 6-1 Victory Over Arcadia

9/8/07 -- Sophomore Jessica Gonzalez (Eastampton, NJ) scored the first of her two goals during a six-minute run in which Widener grabbed control in a 6-1 triumph over Arcadia at Edith R. Dixon Field.

Gonzalez tallied in the 12th minute to open the scoring. Junior Erica Rose (Plymouth Meeting, PA) scored her third goal of the season in the 16th minute and sophomore Kelly Eash (Glenolden, PA) netted her first of the year two minutes later for a 3-0 lead.

Chelsea St. Onge-May scored in the 27th minute for Arcadia (1-2) to make it a 3-1 contest.

Senior Jaime Carr (Norristown, PA) tallied her fourth of the season in the 56th minute for a 4-1 Widener margin. Sophomore Brittany Dippolito (Pennsauken, NJ) scored four minutes later and Gonzalez closed the scoring in the 69th minute.

Eash and Carr took nine shots each with Gonzalez posting seven. Freshman Megan Purcell (Perkasie, PA) notched the victory in her first collegiate start.

Brittany Rassmussen made 19 saves and Rachel Palis had 17 for the Knights.

Widener hits the road Tuesday to visit Haverford for a 4:00 pm start.
