12/5/07 -- Widener opened a 45-point halftime lead and was never headed en route to an 89-55 victory at Philadelphia Biblical in Langhorne, PA.
Widener (8-0) grabbed a 68-23 lead at the intermission by shooting 54 percent (27-of-50) from the field and 8-of-13 from 3-point range. Junior Charles Jones (Philadelphia, PA) scored 13 points in that span, freshman Clinton Cole (Upper Darby, PA) netted 11 and junior Matt Sosna (Stratford, NJ) added 10.
Philadelphia Biblical (0-6) was limited to only 27 percent shooting (9-of-33) during that span and was 0-of-4 from beyond the arc.
Jones, Cole and Sosna finished with their first-half totals and sophomore Craig Stewart (Herndon, VA) added 10 points for the Pride, who shot 45 percent (37-of-83) overall.
Cole ended with six steals to help Widener finish with an astounding 25. Sosna grabbed eight rebounds as the Pride closed with a 50-41 edge.
Malik Charles scored 14 points with Jim Trikur adding 12 and 10 for Philadelphia Biblical, which shot 34 percent (22-of-65) and was 1-of-13 from 3-point range.
Widener on Friday plays Penn State Brandywine in the first round of the Heritage's Dairy Stores Classic on the campus of Rowan University. Tip-off in Glassboro, NJ is 6:00 pm.
