Jaime Carr's Natural Hat Trick Propels Field Hockey to 7-0 Blanking of Philadelphia Biblical

10/4/07 -- Senior Jaime Carr (Norristown, PA) notched her sixth career hat trick and second this season, lifting Widener to a 7-0 victory over Philadelphia Biblical at Edith R. Dixon Field.

Carr's natural hat trick came in a span of just over nine minutes, helping Widener to a 4-0 lead. She also added an assist, raising her Commonwealth Conference leading totals to 18 goals and 39 points.

Junior Erica Rose (Plymouth Meeting, PA) scored just 96 seconds into the match for Widener (10-1). Senior Colleen Guille (Springfield, PA) tallied on a penalty stroke in the 45th minute for a 5-0 cushion and sophomore Jackie Elliott (Upper Darby, PA) netted a pair.

Guille, Rose and freshman Mellany Broomall (Clarksboro, NJ) each recorded assists for the Pride, who ended with a 24-5 shots edge.

Freshman Megan Purcell (Perkasie, PA) made three saves for Widener over 35 minutes.

This marks the school-record fifth consecutive year Widener has posted at least 10 victories and sixth time in seven campaigns. The school record for most wins is 13 set last season.

Katie Aungst had 14 saves for Philadelphia Biblical and Melissa Reider ended with two shots.

Widener is on the road next Wednesday against Rowan, beginning at 7:00 pm.
