Fran Schmutz

Fran Schmutz is in his third season as an assistant coach and recruiting coordinator for the Widener women's soccer program.

Schmutz helped the Pride to an 11-win season in 2019. He was instrumental in helping bring 12 student-athletes to the fall for the 2020 season, including three participants from the South Jersey All-Star Game. 

Prior to joining Widener, Schmutz worked as an assistant women’s soccer coach at Mount Aloysius College, specializing in recruiting. He helped guide the Mounties to a 14-3-2 record last year and a berth in the Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference title match. Schmutz has also spent time as the Director of Youth Development for Deptford Premier FC and SDS.
 
As a player, he appeared in 49 matches, starting 46, during three seasons at Albright on the back line. He posted five assists in his career and found the back of the net once, against Stevenson on October 20, 2012.
 
Schmutz is a native of Cherry Hill, N.J.
