Britta Olsen enters her second season as an assistant women’s basketball coach at Widener University. She will be responsible for assisting head coach Alisa Kintner with all aspects of the program with an emphasis on the training and development of the post players.
Prior to her arrival at Widener, Olsen served as an assistant women’s basketball and men’s and women’s tennis coach at Rutgers-Camden while she was pursuing a master’s degree at the school. She most notably mentored one player who was named all-region and all-conference as well as four players who garnered NJAC academic honorable mention laurels on the hardwood. The men’s and women’s tennis programs were also successful under her guidance by capturing Northeast Athletic Conference West Division regular season and tournament championships.
After playing tennis as a freshman at Wagner, Olsen transferred to Drew where she was a three-year letterwinner and two-year starter with the women’s basketball program. As a senior team captain, she averaged 6.9 points and 4.4 rebounds per contest while also registering two team highs by shooting 50 percent from the floor and 82.1 percent from the charity stripe. In addition, the 2009-10 team she was a member of advanced to the ECAC semifinals.
A native of Hallowell, Maine, Olsen graduated from Drew in 2012 with a bachelor’s degree in economics. She later earned a master’s degree in public administration from Rutgers-Camden in 2014.
