    Assistant Men's Soccer Coach
Scott Zaring is in his first season as an assistant men’s soccer coach at Widener University. He is responsible for assisting head coach Brent Jacquette with all aspects of the program and most notably serves as the team’s recruiting coordinator.

Zaring’s coaching experience ranges from the youth to collegiate levels. The former goalkeeper most recently served as the associate head boys soccer coach at Jefferson High School, where he was a captain and all-state standout on the scholastic level, and as an assistant men’s coach at Lynchburg College over the past year. The Hornets finished with a winning 10-4-4 campaign and advanced to the Old Dominion Athletic Conference Tournament this past fall.

Furthermore, Zaring served as the assistant boys soccer coach for four seasons at Jefferson Forest between 2011 and 2015 and helped the program register a combined 62-6-3 record during that span. The Cavaliers also won the Virginia High School League Class AA state title and were ranked fourth nationally in the ESPN Rise rankings.

As a collegian between the pipes, Zaring enjoyed a standout career at Randolph College, Southern Virginia and Lynchburg College. At Southern Virginia, he was a team captain who was named to the 2013 All-Capital Athletic Conference Second Team after making 144 saves and turning away nearly 75 percent of the shots he faced. Zaring, whose saves mark also ranks second on the league’s all-time single-season list, then concluded his collegiate career by notching an 0.84 goals against average to go along with a .750 save percentage for a Lynchburg squad which advanced to the NCAA Tournament in 2014.

A native of Forest, Va., Zaring received his bachelor’s degree in business administration with a minor in coaching from Lynchburg College in 2016. He enjoys playing basketball and golf in his free time.
