Assistant Men's Soccer Coach - Director of Wellness and Mental Performance

Melissa Mroz, MS, C-IAYT, 500 ERYT, CTRS, CPT, YACEP, is a therapist, educator, and performance coach dedicated to optimizing athletic potential through breath, movement, and neuroscience.

She holds a Master of Science in Yoga Therapy, a Bachelor’s in Recreation Therapy, and multiple certifications across health, fitness, and yoga. With over 15 years of professional experience, Melissa has established herself as a leading educator and continuing education provider, known for blending ancient wisdom traditions with modern neuroscience to enhance focus, resilience, and recovery.

At Widener, she serves as:

  • Yoga Science Instructor, teaching students how to connect ancient practices with quantum physics and neurobiology.
  • Mental Performance Coach & Wellness Director for Men’s Soccer, where she integrates Neural Performance Training™ into team culture.
  • HUB Initiative Partner, offering yoga-based performance and recovery support to all student-athletes and coaches.

Her career has spanned inclusive recreation therapy, elite sports medicine settings, and neural performance training for athletes ranging from youth to professionals. She has worked extensively in concussion and core muscle rehabilitation, preparing athletes to return stronger both physically and mentally.

Melissa’s personal journey fuels her work. After surviving a traumatic brain injury at 18, she discovered the connection between breath, brain, and body through play, yoga, and neuroscience. This lived experience inspired her to create Neural Performance Training™, a system designed to help athletes recover faster, lead with purpose, and perform consistently at the highest level.

Her philosophy is simple yet powerful: elite performance and resilience begin with the breath.
