Brent Jacquette

Brent Jacquette is in his 10th season as the head men’s soccer coach at Widener. He has led the program to some of its most successful seasons in program history.

2017 was a year for the Pride goalkeepers as the last line of defense for Widener ranked third in the conference with a combined .813 save percentage. 2016 saw Jacquette add to his list of All-Conference honorees as Tommy O'Keefe was named to the MAC Commonwealth Second Team.

2015 saw Jacquette pilot the Pride to its first Middle Atlantic Conference Commonwealth Tournament appearance since 2008. The team earned a thrilling 3-2 road victory over Arcadia in double overtime in the opening round before dropping a competitive semifinal match to nationally-ranked Lycoming. Jacquette most notably mentored Tori Remondelli, who graduated as the program’s all-time leading scorer.

Before taking over the helm of the program, Jacquette spent two years as an assistant coach with the Pride. The 2008 squad most notably upset top-seeded Lebanon Valley in the conference semifinals and competed in the ECAC South Region Tournament. The team’s nine victories were also the most since the 2004 squad picked up 10.

Jacquette has also had a huge role with Soccer for Success, a free after-school program that uses soccer as a tool to address children’s health issues and juvenile delinquency while promoting healthy lifestyles in urban underserved communities. He founded the Chester Upland Soccer for Success program and currently serves as Executive Director. Jacquette’s efforts helped him be named the Philadelphia Union’s nominee for the MLS WORKS Community MVP Contest in 2014.

In addition, Jacquette founded Get Ahead Soccer and was a co-director of sports operations at Tri State Sports. In these roles, he helped develop a marketing plan for youth leagues and oversaw scheduling, staffing and billing of the complex.

Jacquette also enjoyed a successful collegiate playing career in which he was named an All-American as well as a two-time All-Big Ten Conference defender at Penn State. The four-year starter and team captain was tabbed a Collegiate MVP by Soccer America in 2002 and was selected to participate in the Major League Soccer combine in 2003. Furthermore, he competed in the United Soccer Leagues with the Pittsburgh Riverhounds and the Minnesota Thunder.

A native of Wallingford, Jacquette graduated from Penn State with a bachelor’s degree in telecommunications in 2002 and more recently with a master’s degree in public administration from Widener in 2016. He currently holds a USSF “A” License as well as an NSCAA Premier Diploma.
