David Waldman is in his second season as an assistant men’s lacrosse coach at Widener. He is responsible for assisting head coach Jamie Lockard with all aspects of the program's development and will serve as the defensive coordinator for the Pride this season.
Waldman has dedicated himself to the sport of lacrosse for more than two decades at the scholastic and collegiate levels. He began his college coaching career at St. Joseph’s University in 1997 and helped the Division I Hawks claim their first Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference championship in 2000. In addition, Waldman served as an upper school teacher and head boys lacrosse coach at Friends’ Central School in 1999 and 2000.
After leaving the private school ranks, Waldman accepted the position of head boys lacrosse coach at Strath Haven High School between 2002 and 2012. In this position, he guided the Panthers to 124 wins and 10 straight playoff appearances. Since his departure from Strath Haven, Waldman has served as the defensive coordinator at Great Valley High School and helped the Patriots capture their first league title in 2013.
Waldman, who has been teaching at nearby Strath Haven High School since 2001 and serves as Vice President of the Wallingford-Swarthmore Education Association, was a two-year captain of the men’s lacrosse team at the College of Wooster in 1995 and 1996. He earned a bachelor’s degree in history from Wooster in 1996 as well as a master’s in education from St. Joseph’s University in 1998. Waldman resides in West Chester with his wife, Heather, and their two daughters, Sophia and Erika.
