Widener University Athletics

Nader Kawash is in his 15th year as an equipment manager for the Widener University Athletics Department in 2025-26. He came to Widener with 15 years of relevant professional experience as an assistant equipment manager in both intercollegiate athletics and the National Football League.
 
In his current position, Kawash currently oversees all equipment operations in the Schwartz Athletic Center. This includes ordering equipment and issuing apparel for 21 of Widener’s 23 varsity sports, maintaining inventory, coordinating laundry operations for all Widener varsity teams, preparing game day operations and supervising multiple student managers on the equipment staff.
 
Kawash arrived at Widener after serving as an assistant equipment manager at Kent State for four years. At Kent State, his responsibilities included ordering equipment and maintaining budgets for 12 varsity teams, maintaining inventory, coordinating laundry operations and supervising equipment managers. He also traveled with men’s basketball and baseball to postseason tournaments and developed relationships with several vendors such as Nike, Reebok, Under Armour, Asics and Rawlings.
 
Before his arrival at Kent State, Kawash had similar duties as an assistant equipment manager at the University of Southern California and the University of Virginia between 2004 and 2007. He most notably worked as a football equipment manager when USC defeated Michigan by a 32-18 score in the Rose Bowl during the 2006 season, and he also worked two additional bowl games with the football program at Virginia.
 
Widener’s equipment manager began his professional career an intern equipment manager with the NFL’s Tennessee Titans, Dallas Cowboys and Philadelphia Eagles. In addition, he was promoted to be an assistant equipment manager position with the Eagles before eventually entering the field at the amateur and intercollegiate level.
 
A native of South Philadelphia, Kawash is a member of the Athletic Equipment Managers Association and continues to reside in the area.
