Widener University Athletics

Stephen Griffin is in his second season as an assistant coach at Widener.  He previously played two seasons at Philadelphia University from 2011-13 under legendary coach Herb Magee after competing at Prince Georges Community College in 2010-11.  His coaching career has included a stop as an assistant men’s basketball coach and head cross country coach at Germantown Friends School in 2013-14. 

In his home state of Maryland, Griffin started “Embracing Pink” that works to provide counseling to families, holds fundraising events and promotes breast cancer prevention.  He was also an assistant event planner for Dream Team Nation in Washington, D.C. in 2012.  Griffin graduated from Philadelphia University in 2014 with a bachelor’s degree in business management.
