Mac Ryan is in his first as an assistant men's basketball coach.
"I'm excited to have Mac Ryan join our coaching staff and our basketball family," said Carideo. "Everybody that I spoke to about Mac said nothing but positive and great things about him as a person and a coach. His background at the Division I level along with his love and passion to be a coach will serve him well in our program. Our coaches and players are looking forward to getting to know him better as we get going in the coming weeks!"
Ryan spent the past two seasons as a graduate assistant for the Temple University men's basketball program, working under head coaches Fran Dunphy and Aaron McKie. In that role, he was responsible for recruiting potential student-athletes, breaking down film, facilitating workouts and practices, and providing operational support. In his first season, he helped the Owls to a 23-8 record and an appearance in the NCAA Tournament.
Prior to Temple, Ryan was an athletics assistant at Saint Joseph's Prep where he coordinated logistics for 18 sports at every level and helped develop a strategic plan for the athletic department. He also served as an assistant basketball coach and JV golf coach for the school.
While an undergraduate student at Elon University, Ryan was the co-president of the school's men's basketball club team. He also helped run several basketball camps around the Philadelphia area and worked as an operations intern for the Golf Association of Philadelphia.
Ryan earned his bachelor's degree in sport and event management from Elon in 2017 and went on to complete his master's degree in sports business from Temple in 2020.
