Nate Hinkle is in his second season as an assistant coach in 2020. He mentors the Pride offensive line and oversees the Widener ground attack. He is also the academic coordinator for the football team.

In his first season, Hinkle coached an offensive line that allowed just 14 sacks on the season, the lowest total for the Blue and Gold since 2014. That line also helped the run game, which delivered 17 touchdowns on the season, including 11 from Chris Randle. Randle and Tahir Cruse both finished in the top-12 in the Middle Atlantic Conference in rushing yards.

Widener was also accomplished in the classroom where it placed 29 players on the MAC Academic Honor Roll. Five student-athletes were named Academic All-MAC, the most in the conference, and three were named Philadelphia Inquirer Academic All-Area, including Sean McGaughey, who was the Academic All-Area Performer of the Year.

Hinkle is familiar with the MAC, joining the Blue and Gold following a season at King’s where he was the offensive line coach and run game coordinator. He guided the Monarchs’ first 1,000 yard rusher in more than a decade and coached two All-Conference performers.

Before heading to King’s, Hinkle made stops at both Millersville University and Reading High School, serving as the offensive coordinator in both locations. With Millersville, he also spent time as the special teams coordinator, running backs coach, and tight ends coach, while also organizing the Maurauders football camps. As a player, Hinkle appeared in 27 games for Millersville from 2009-12, starting all 22 games as a junior and senior. He made 45 tackles in his final two seasons with 4.0 TFL and a sack.

He graduated from MU with a BA in history.
