Alex Oxner

Alex Oxner is in his seventh season as a member of the Widener football staff and fourth as the program’s director of analytics.
 
In his current position, Oxner is responsible for charting and tracking efficiency of Widener’s offensive plays during games as well as the tendencies of opponents’ play calling against the Pride. In addition, he does self-scouting, reviews scouting reports of Widener’s opponents and assists with recruiting by evaluating prospective student-athletes. His efforts have helped the Pride advance as far as the quarterfinal round of the NCAA Tournament.
 
Oxner’s expertise with statistical trends has been utilized throughout the Widener Athletics Department. He has also been a manager and analytics specialist for three seasons with women’s lacrosse as well as one season with men’s lacrosse, women’s basketball and field hockey.
 
Furthermore, Oxner’s experience has extended beyond collegiate sports. He has worked as a volunteer statistician for the Philadelphia Soul for three seasons and has also provided statistics and charts for the Philadelphia Eagles during the organization’s 2013 campaign.
 
Oxner, who has also analyzed statistics for programs who compete at the scholastic level, received his bachelor’s degree in psychology at Widener University in 2014 and his master's degree in social work from the institution in 2017. .
