GLENSIDE, Pa. – Widener Women's Soccer battled Arcadia University on Wednesday evening, but a second-half goal by the Knights proved to be the difference as the Pride dropped a 1-0 decision.
The Pride move to 4-3-1 on the season.

- Araba Abanyie made seven saves to keep the Pride within one throughout the match.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- Arcadia controlled much of the opening half, testing Abanyie early and often. The Widener goalkeeper made saves on Sadie Nugent in the eighth minute, Olivia Gehman in the 16th minute, Gianna Palko in the 22nd minute and Makaela Nash in the 29th minute to keep the match scoreless. The Pride created their best opportunity of the half in the 40th minute, when Burke's shot was saved by Arcadia goalkeeper Olivia Petty. Neither team could find the breakthrough before halftime, sending the match into the break tied at 0-0.
- The Knights continued to apply pressure after the restart, with Abanyie making saves on Gehman and Nugent before Gehman broke through in the 61st minute. Gehman finished a chance assisted by Nugent and Charli Aumiller to give Arcadia a 1-0 lead. Widener responded with increased pressure, as Burke and Fisher each had multiple shots saved by Petty, while the Pride earned three second-half corner kicks. Ayala also forced a save in the 88th minute, but Arcadia held on for the 1-0 victory.
