MADISON, N.J - Widener Field Hockey used a career performance from
Karly Bervinchak to knock off Drew University by a final score of 7-3 at Ranger Stadium.
With the win, the Pride move to 2-2 on the season.
BY THE NUMBERS
- Both teams took 16 shots. Widener put nine shots on goal while Drew had seven shots on goal.
- Bervinchak's four goals tied her career-best in a game, the other time coming against Drew on Sept. 13, 2025. Bervinchak also recorded a career-high nine points.
- Brie Mallozzi, Briana Rocha and Kayden Geiter each recorded a goal.
- Emma Korenthal made four saves in goal.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Drew took an early 2-0 lead in the first period. The Pride got to work in the second period as Bervinchak scored two goals in the first nine minutes of the frame. Mallozzi's goal broke a 2-2 deadlock in favor of the Pride. Neither team could add another goal and Widener took a 3-2 lead into halftime.
- Drew responded early in the third period to tie it up at three apiece before Geiter put Widener back ahead at the midway point in the third period. Later in the period with under a minute to go, Bervinchak's third goal pushed the Pride advantage to two. In the fourth period, Bervinchak scored her fourth goal before Rocha scored on a play assisted by Bervinchak to seal the 7-3 Widener win.
UP NEXT
Widener will return home to take on Swarthmore at Edith R. Dixon Field on Saturday, Sept. 19. The game is scheduled to start at 1:00 p.m.
