Field Hockey Cruises to 6-1 Victory over Lancaster Bible

LANCASTER, PA - Widener Field Hockey turned in their best performance of the 2026 season so far, taking home a 6-1 win over the Lancaster Bible Chargers at Willis & Martha Herr Stadium.

The win improves the Pride's record to 1-2 on the season.

BY THE NUMBERS 
  • Widener took a whopping 31 shots to Lancaster Bible's five. Widener put 17 shots on target while Lancaster Bible had three shots on goal.
  • Karly Bervinchak had her first hat-trick of the season. It was the third time in her career she's recorded three or more goals in a game.
  • Addie Troy, Anabella Cenci and Harlie Bakey each recorded a goal, making it the first goal of the season for all three.
  • Emma Korenthal made one save in goal. Brie Mallozzi also recorded a defensive save.
HOW IT HAPPENED
  • The Pride wasted no time getting on the board with Bervinchak getting her first tally on the night with 11:34 to go left in the first period. Lancaster Bible answered immediately, scoring just 57 seconds later to tie the game at one. It would be all Widener after that with the Pride reclaiming the lead just before the end of the first quarter after Bervinchak scored her second goal of the game, Cenci getting credit for the assist. 
  • Neither team could get on the score sheet in the second period. Widener outshot Lancaster Bible 2-1 in the quarter.
  • The Pride turned it on in the third period. Just under a minute and a half into the frame, Troy delivered the ball into the back of the net with Bervinchak receiving an assist to make it 3-1.. A little under two minutes later, Cenci got into the scoring action after being set up by Troy. Later in the period, Bervinchak would get her third goal of the game to finish off the hat-trick and push the Widener advantage to four. The game would remain 5-1 heading into the final frame. 
  • Widner would tack on one more goal in the final frame with Bakey recording her first collegiate goal of her career while Cenci got her second assist of the game. The score would remain 6-1 for the duration of the game, the Pride sealing their first win in 2026.
UP NEXT
The Pride will travel to Madison, N.J. to take on Drew University on Saturday, Sept. 12. The game is scheduled to start at 6:00 p.m.
