IMMACULATA, Pa. - After taking the lead mid-game, Widener shut the door in the final innings to secure the doubleheader sweep.
Widener Softball improves to 8-18 on the season and remains 1-7 in conference play.

HOW IT HAPPENED – GAME ONE
Immaculata struck first in the opening inning, using a sacrifice fly to take an early 1-0 lead
Widener threatened in the second, loading the bases with two outs, but was unable to bring a run across
The Pride broke through in the third inning, erupting for four runs. RBI singles from Tong and Ferraro tied the game and gave Widener the lead, before Mayorga delivered a two-run single to extend the advantage to 4-1
Widener added to its lead in the fourth, as Tong launched a two-run home run to left center, pushing the lead to 6-1
After a scoreless fifth, the Pride continued to build in the sixth. Hailey Hernandez brought in a run on a sacrifice fly, while additional runs came across on defensive miscues to make it 8-1
From there, Widener's defense and pitching held strong, shutting down Immaculata over the final innings to secure the game one victory

HOW IT HAPPENED – GAME TWO
Immaculata got on the board first in the opening inning, taking advantage of a passed ball to grab a 1-0 lead
Widener was held hitless through the first two innings before breaking through in the fourth. Ferraro led off with a double, and Sissons followed with an RBI double to even the score at 1-1
The Pride took the lead in the fifth, as Bell worked a walk, stole second, and came around to score on an RBI single from Carney to make it 2-1
Widener continued to threaten in the sixth, putting runners on second and third, but was unable to extend the lead
From there, the Pride's pitching and defense locked in, holding Immaculata scoreless over the final innings to secure the 2-1 victory and complete the sweep of the doubleheader
