HOW IT HAPPENED
  • After a scoreless first inning, the Widener offense exploded for four runs in the top of the second. Mark Selverian and Myles Calderbank hit back-to-back singles to start the rally, and a sacrifice bunt by Tyler Harper moved them into scoring position. Ryan Madden put Widener on the board first with an RBI ground out that scored Selverian. Braedyn Clinton kept the momentum going with an RBI single down the right-field line to score Calderbank. Ryan Bauerle followed with an RBI single to right-center, bringing Clinton home. After Brandon Yoder singled, Kevin Bukowski capped the inning with an RBI single up the middle to score Bauerle, giving Widener a 4-0 lead. The Pride struck again in the top of the third. Selverian singled, advanced on a wild pitch, and moved to third on a single by Madden. Clinton then ripped an RBI single down the left-field line to bring Selverian home. Shortly after, Bauerle singled to right-center, driving in Madden to extend the lead to 6-0.

  • Widener continued to apply pressure, adding two more runs in the top of the fifth. Clinton singled up the middle and advanced to third on a pair of wild pitches. Bauerle then drew a walk and stole second. Brandon Yoder capitalized with a sacrifice fly to center field, allowing Clinton to tag up and score. Later in the inning, Bauerle crossed the plate on another wild pitch, stretching the advantage to 8-0. The Pride put the game completely out of reach with a three-run sixth inning. With the bases loaded after a walk to Selverian, a single by Calderbank, and a walk by Daniel Giordano, Madden drew a walk to score Selverian, and Clinton followed with another walk to bring home pinch-runner Hayden Sowers. Bauerle then delivered a sacrifice fly to right field, scoring Giordano to make it 11-0. The Widener bullpen slammed the door shut to preserve the shutout and earn the Pride their fourth straight win.
