CHESTER, Pa. - Widener celebrated Senior Day in style, sweeping Hood College in a dominant doubleheader performance.

Widener erased an early deficit and exploded late to take game one on Senior Day.
After falling behind 4–0 through the first two innings, the Pride chipped away with a run in the fourth before delivering a game-changing fifth inning. Mayorga highlighted the frame with a three-run home run, capping a five-run surge that gave Widener a 6–4 lead. Ferraro added a two-RBI single earlier in the inning to spark the rally.
Widener added an insurance run in the sixth as Ferraro delivered again with an RBI single to make it 7–5. In the circle, Mayorga settled in after taking over, helping the Pride hold off Hood College Blazers softball down the stretch.

HOW IT HAPPENED – GAME TWO
Widener jumped in front early and never looked back to secure the sweep.
The Pride wasted no time in the first inning, plating three runs behind RBI contributions from Sissons and a two-run single from Gomez to take a 3–0 lead.
Hood responded with a run in the second, but Widener answered in the fourth. Shuler sparked the inning with a double before Carney drove her in with an RBI single to extend the lead to 4–1.
From there, the Pride pitching staff held firm. Sissons kept Hood off balance through the middle innings, and Widener's defense closed the door late, allowing just one run across the final six frames.

The Pride head to Glenside, Pa., on Monday, April 20, to take on Arcadia University in a doubleheader. Game times are scheduled for 4 p.m. and 6 p.m.
