Scaliti’s Assists Lead Pride to Dominating Win Over Eastern

ST. DAVID'S, Pa. – Gianna Scaliti dishes a career high in assists in the first conference win over Eastern.
 
The 21-3 win moves the Pride to 7-4 in the regular season and 1-0 in conference play.

  • Claire Lynch held six goals, an assist, and five draw controls.
  • Gianna Scaliti scored one and dished a career high six assists.
  • Kasey Thornton forced four turnovers.
  • Madison Warlow led with three saves.
  • The Pride totaled 45 shots, went 10-of-12 in clears, and 2-of-5 in free position shots.
HOW IT HAPPENED
  • Out of the first draw, Lynch would control the circle with an early goal from Alex Krohn. Lynch would win the second draw while Scaliti saw her 12th goal of the season. Thornton would find an offensive shot while the Eagles put themselves on the board with 10:43 left. Jessica Mantz found a draw control while Lynch quickly capitalized. Mantz pushed the score to 4-1 with a goal off a Scaliti pass. Alyssa Ruggiero entered the scoring with a goal at 7:04 while Mantz scored an up goal with 5:38. Warlow kept the attacking Eagles quiet while Jarliah Ferko scored an unassisted goal to end the first up 7-1.
     
  • The Eagles punched in a goal quickly out of the first of the second. Lynch saw a draw control while the offensive shots rained. Rylie Christy saw her first goal of the season at 8:51 while Ava Leporati and Avery Farina each held one in the middle of the second. Maddie Phillips would force a turnover on defense as the second ended with the Pride up 10-2.
     
  • Regan Polacek took over in goal as Phillips snagged a ground ball to give Lynch an unassisted goal at 14:26. Lynch and Leporati scored back-to-back to push the score to 13-2. Thornton saw another force while Lynch and Leporati again went back-to-back. Ruggiero scored a free position goal to end the third up 17-2.
     
  • Christy saw a ground ball to start the final 15 minutes while Lynch scored an unassisted for her 30th of the season. Ferko would cash in on a Farina pass for her second of the game. Thornton entered the scoring action with her first goal of the season with 5:17 left. The Eagles would end the Pride run with 2:09 left. A down goal from Farina would end the scoring with a final of 21-3. 
UP NEXT
Widener returns to Dixon Field for a Wednesday, April 8 contest against the 6-5 (1-0 MAC Commonwealth Stevenson Mustangs. Game time is scheduled for 7 p.m.
