CHESTER, Pa. - Widener showed flashes of offense in both games, including home runs from Sissons and Tong, but Wilkes pulled away late in each contest to take both wins.
Widener Softball drops to 5-13 on the season and remains 1-5 in conference play.

HOW IT HAPPENED – GAME ONE
Wilkes struck first with a solo home run in the opening inning to take an early 1-0 lead.
Widener answered in the second, as Hayden Sissons launched a solo home run to left field to even the score at 1-1.
After several scoreless innings, the Pride broke through in the fifth. Taylor Bell came around to score on an RBI double from Elizabeth Carney, and a sacrifice fly from Jocelin Mayorga extended the lead to 3-1.
Wilkes responded in the top of the seventh, using a three-run home run to take the lead before adding another run later in the inning to go up 5-3.
Widener was unable to answer in the bottom half, as Wilkes closed out the game to take the opener.

HOW IT HAPPENED – GAME TWO
Widener got on the board first in the second as Hailey Hernandez doubled to drive in Julia Yogis, bringing the score to 1-0.
The Pride extended the lead in the third, as Katelyn Tong launched a two-run home run to left-center, scoring Hayden Sissons and giving Widener a 3-2 advantage.
Despite several opportunities in later innings, including contributions from Hailey Hernandez and Hayden Sissons, Widener was unable to add enough runs.
Wilkes scored multiple runs in the sixth inning to pull away, ultimately handing Widener the 9-3 loss.
