HOW IT HAPPENED
  • The Spartans threatened in first, putting runners on first and third with one out. Trae Sanders was able to work his way out of the jam after rolling a 6-4-3 double play to end the inning. After a quiet first and second inning for the Pride offense, they got things going in the third. Brian Fitzpatrick was hit by a pitch followed by a sacrifice bunt from Braedyn Clinton and a walk from Ryan Bauerle to put runners on first and second. Kevin Bukowski stepped up and delivered a two out RBI single to give Widener a 1-0 lead. The Pride added on another in the bottom of the fourth. Tyler Harper got things started with a lead off single. Ryan Madden moved him over with a sacrifice bunt before Sean Burke drove him in with an RBI single up the middle to make it a 2-0 game.

  • Widener extended its lead in the sixth. Ryan Madden led off the inning with a double down the right field line. The Pride then capitalized on mistakes from the Spartans as Sean Burke laid down a sacrifice bunt and Madden was able to score on an error to make the score 3-0. Ryan Bauerle followed that up with a single with the bases loaded to drive in another. Kevin Bukowski then made it a 5-0 game with a sacrifice fly to right field. The Spartan bats woke up in the top of the seventh, hitting a solo home run to cut the Pride lead down to four. The Spartans would add on one more in the top of the ninth but that is all they would get as the Pride would secure a 5-2 conference win.
