ABINGTON, Pa. - Widener combined for 16 runs across the doubleheader, highlighted by an 11-run performance in game two to earn the split.
Widener Softball improves to 4-10 on the season and remains 0-4 in conference play.

HOW IT HAPPENED – GAME ONE
Widener broke through in the second inning, taking advantage of Penn State Abington miscues. Katelyn Tong reached on an error and later scored on another defensive miscue before Taylor Bell delivered an RBI double. Elizabeth Carney followed with a two-RBI double to cap a four-run frame and give the Pride a 4-0 lead.
The Pride added to their advantage in the fifth inning. Jocelin Mayorga doubled to start the inning, and eventually Blake Shuler went in for her, coming around to score on a throwing error, extending the lead to 5-0.
Penn State Abington responded in the bottom of the fifth inning, scoring three runs highlighted by a two-RBI triple from Candice Peck to cut the deficit to 5-3.
Widener threatened in the sixth, loading the bases, but could not add insurance runs.
In the bottom of the seventh, Penn State Abington completed the comeback. A sacrifice fly brought in one run before a two-RBI double from Riley Logan gave the Nittany Lions a 6-5 walk-off victory.

HOW IT HAPPENED – GAME TWO
Widener wasted no time getting on the board in game two. Elizabeth Carney worked a leadoff walk and came around to score on a double from Jocelin Mayorga before aggressive baserunning, including a steal of home from Katherine Lippincott, helped the Pride take a 2-0 lead in the first.
After Penn State Abington got one back in the bottom half, Widener responded with a big third inning. The Pride capitalized on defensive miscues and timely hitting, scoring four runs highlighted by an RBI double from Mia Ferraro and an RBI single from Izzie Baron to extend the lead to 6-1.
Widener continued to apply pressure in the fourth, adding two more runs. A wild pitch brought home a run before Ferraro delivered again with an RBI single to make it 8-2.
The Pride tacked on three more in the fifth inning. Hailey Hernandez walked, then Taylor Bell started the rally with an RBI double, and Katelyn Tong followed with a two-run single to push the advantage to 11-2.
Penn State Abington mounted a late push with four runs in the fifth, but Widener's early offensive outburst proved to be enough, as the Pride secured an 11-6 victory.
