COLLEGEVILLE, Pa. – Widener Women's Lacrosse opens hot against Ursinus but come home short in a 14-8 defeat.
The 14-8 loss moves the Pride to 5-4 in the regular season.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Pride rolled to an early goal after a Warlow save. Ruggiero would score an up goal to take a 1-0 lead with 9:55. A fast paced Pride offense would find Lynch's free position shot adding one point to the score while Mantz won the draw and gave Lynch her second free position goal at 7:35. Warlow would make another save to give Alex Krohn a goal to take a 4-0 lead with 4:36 remaining. The Bears would put their score up with 1:55 left to end the first with Widener leading 4-1.
- The Bears would answer the Pride early in the second quarter with the tying 4-4 goal happening with 13:13 on the board. Lynch would win the draw and give Mantz an unassisted goal to take a 5-4 lead. The Pride offense would slow while Kasey Thornton and the defense would dig in two caused turnovers from Thornton. The score at half showed the Pride down 7-5.
- With 30 to play, Krohn forced a turnover to give the Pride an attacking opportunity. Scaliti would find an unassisted goal with 10:57 left to make the score 8-6 Bears. Warlow would continue to make saves as the Bears would keep pestering the cage. The third ended with Ruggiero scoring a free position goal to make the score 10-7 Bears.
- Ciana Suydam found a forced turnover while Mantz hit the post on a free position shot to open the fourth. Ruggiero's forced turnover gave Scaliti her second goal of the evening to move the score to 11-8 Ursinus. The Bears would answer quickly with two of their own while the Pride ended the fourth with one shot late in the quarter from Lynch. The final was 14-8 Bears after 60 minutes of play.

Widener returns to Dixon Field for senior day on Saturday, March 28 against the 9-0 (0-0 MAC Freedom) Arcadia Knights. Senior day celebration is set to commence at 11:45 a.m. with the first draw set for noon.
