CHESTER, Pa. – Widener Women's Lacrosse steps on defense in a non-conference win over Misericordia on Dixon Field.
The 15-7 win moves the Pride to 5-3 in the regular season.
BY THE NUMBERS
- Jessica Mantz led the offensive with five goals and an assist on nine total shots.
- Alyssa Ruggiero held three caused turnovers with a draw control.

- The Pride took 26 shots (15 on target), went 21-of-23 in clears, and 5-of-10 in free position shots.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Pride opened the 60-minute contest with a Claire Lynch caused turnover and a Warlow free position save. The first goal game from Mantz with 8:52 left in the first off an Avery Farina assist. Warlow registered a save before the Cougars tied the game at one. Lynch would win the draw to give Farina her first goal of the game. Warlow would transition the Pride to give Mantz an up goal to take a 3-1 lead after one quarter of play.
- Warlow made a save to open the second while the defensive game for both sides emerged. Phillips forced a turnover before Alex Krohn picked up an unassisted goal with 8:44 left. Leporati won the draw to give Lynch a goal off a Krohn pass in to take a 5-1 lead. Phillips and Maddie Stehman forced back-to-back turnovers after a clock violation before Mantz scored a free position goal with 3:38 left. Warlow registered another save before the Cougars scored just before half. The score at half was 6-2.
- The Pride continued their hot streak out of half with a Ruggiero forced turnover. Ruggiero would score an up goal to take a 7-2 lead. Gianna Scaliti scored with 7:16 left to force a Cougars timeout. Out of a timeout, Jarliah Ferko saw an unassisted goal for her third goal of the season. Mantz picked up an unassisted goal while Warlow kept the Cougars out with a free position save to end the third up 10-2.
- The Cougars offense would pick up some offensive momentum with two back-to-back goals to make the score 10-4. The Pride answered a 4-0 run at 5:57 with a Lynch unassisted goal to make the score 11-6. With three to play Lynch would lead a 4-0 run. Mantz and Lynch each saw a free position goal. Thornton forced a last minute turnover while snagging a ground ball to give Krohn a goal to end the game up 15-7.
