CHESTER, Pa. – Widener Men's Lacrosse falls to Washington College in home opener.
The 17-7 final moves the Pride to 1-2 in the regular season.

- Samuel Haverstrom scores five for the second game in a row with seven shots on goal.
- Sean Alminde scored the final two for the Pride.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Pride rolled to an opening faceoff win while Mast began to earn his stat lines with a handful of saves. Shannon would pick up his first save with 10:46 left. The Pride saw shots from Haverstrom, Liam Drake and more saves from Mast as the Shoremen took a 4-0 lead with one period down.
- The second period opened with two quick Shoremen goals before Matt Shingle won a faceoff while Nick Aristone snagged the ground ball. The Pride offense would struggle while the defense braced from the fast-paced Shoremen. Liam Reilly forced a turnover to give the Pride a clean transition. Alminde put the Pride on the board with an unassisted goal at 5:05. A connection was made with Shingle winning the faceoff to give Haverstrom his first goal of the game off a Knepp assist. The Pride ended two down 9-2.
- With 30 minutes left, Haverstrom picked up his tempo with shots as he would rip two. The Shoremen would strike first with a goal at 6:12 while the Pride won the next faceoff. Mast continued to earn saves before the Shoremen ended the period with an additional three for a score of 12-2.
- 15 minutes of play left would give Shingle another faceoff with and Alminde's second goal with 14:06 left. Haverstrom found a rhythm off a Shimko caused turnover and ground ball to make the score 13-4. A high scoring first give minutes showed Haverstrom snagged a man-up off a Knepp assist with 10:10 on the clock. With 8:07, Colyn Schmitz took over the cage. Jackson forced a turnover to give Haverstrom and ground ball and goal with 7:05 left. Evan Townsend picked up a forced turnover as Haverstrom wrapped the scoring up to end the game 17-7.
