READING, Pa. – Widener Women's Basketball took the lead in the second quarter and never looked back against the Albright College Lions.
The Pride are now 17-5 on the season and 8-2 in conference play.
BY THE NUMBERS
- Avalynn Baer led all scorers with 22 points on 8-of-14 shooting, while adding eight rebounds and two steals in a strong all-around effort.
- Lindsay Kutz recorded 17 points on 7-of-12 from the field while also grabbing nine rebounds.
- Riley Stackhouse finished in double figures with 15 points, knocking down six field goals and contributing four rebounds.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Widener jumped out to an early lead behind an Avalynn Baer tip-in and a three from Lindsay Kutz. Metrick and Stackhouse also contributed during the frame, but Albright responded and took a 14-13 lead into the second quarter.
- The Pride found their rhythm in the second period, using a 22-point quarter to flip the momentum. Baer and Kutz sparked the offensive surge, while Casiello contributed multiple assists in a key Widener run that turned a one-point deficit into an eight-point halftime advantage.
- Widener continued to build separation in the third, opening the half with a strong push that extended the lead into double figures. Contributions from Stackhouse and Kutz fueled another 20-plus point quarter, and the Pride defense limited Albright's scoring opportunities to take a 16-point lead into the final frame.
- The Lions were able to find momentum on offense during this quarter, but Widener continually answered. Baer continued to dominate inside the paint while Kutz added on to her already solid night. When the final whistle blew, Widener came out on top by a final score of 78-59.
