READING, Pa. - Widener men's soccer took care of business against Albright in it's MAC conference opener, winning by a final score of 2-1 at Gene L. Shirk Stadium.
With the win, Widener improved it's record to 7-2-1 (1-0-0 MAC).
BY THE NUMBER
- The Pride took 19 shots to Albright's 11. Widener put 11 shots on goal while Albright mustered four shots on target.
- Allieu Kamara scored his first collegiate goal.
- Tristan Willey made three saves in net for Widener. The senior also improved his record to 6-2-1.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Both teams were held scoreless for most of the first half until the 34th minute when a Max Hartke shot was blocked and ricocheted right to Kamara, who swiftly turned and fired the ball into the back of the net. Willey was only required to make one save in the first half and the Pride would take a 1-0 lead into the break.
- Widener doubled their lead when Jordi Lopez was fouled inside the box and subsequently converted a penalty kick in the 60th minute. The Pride would attempt to ice away the game from there but let in an Albright goal in the 83rd minute, trimming the Widener lead to 2-1. However, Albright couldn't complete the comeback and Widener would come away with a 2-1 result.

The Pride will look to remain unbeaten in conference play when they travel to MAC opponent Neumann University on Wednesday, Oct. 7. The match is scheduled to start at 7:00 p.m.
