GALLOWAY, N.J. – Day two of Stockton Classic shows a near personal high by
Myles Bright to give Widener Men's Basketball a win after 10 years.
The 89-84 win moves the Pride to 3-8 in the regular season.
BY THE NUMBERS
- Myles Bright led with 34 points.
- Jay-Nelly Reyes had a season high four steals.
- Off the bench, Jacob Aryee accumulated 19 points.
- The Pride shot 56.1% from the floor, 31.6% from beyond the arch, and 50 points in the paint.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- A slow start for the Pride would be ended with an Emmett Kane point with Kori Segich following up with a layup. Bright would keep the half close with 16 left after two free points on the stripe. Aryee sunk a triple while Bright tied the game at 17. The Owls went on a run to extend the score to 26-17 before Aryee put in a free throw. The Pride would take a run of their own with Reyes and Bright scoring 11 to bring the score to 37-36 Owls. Bright would tie the game at 40 with 2 to play. The Pride headed to the locker room down 46-40.
- Bright struck first with a quick four points. Bright and Aryee continued the scoring run to take a 54-51 lead with 15:33 left. Bright hit a triple to start a run with Aryee to tack on nine points. Ethan Dodson put in one from the stripe while Bright made a layup to take an 11-point lead. The Pride kept extending as Aryee earned a fastbreak free throw. The Owls would claw back but Bright pushed a three-point lead with a free throw. Reyes poked a key steal allowing Kane to put in a layup. Segich's final points sealed a 89-84 win.
