Claire Lynch highlights the stat lines.
The 14-5 win moves the Pride to 6-7 in the regular season and 2-0 in MAC Commonwealth play.
BY THE NUMBERS
- First year Claire Lynch led the Pride with five goals with six on target and went 1-of-1 in free-position shots.
- Jordyn Edwards would have three assists and two goals.
- Clark Trowbridge won four draw controls while adding two goals.
- The defense was led by Makayla Cox with five caused turnovers.
- In the cage, Regan Polacek would make a save.
- The Pride took 35 shots (21 on target), go a perfect 10-of-10 in clears, and go 2-of-5 in free-position shots.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Pride defense started strong as Cox gave the Pride possession after a caused turnover. The attacking side would see shots from Trowbridge and Chloe Mingioni before Lynch got the scoring going at 11:20. Trowbridge won a draw control to give more Pride shots to pester the Lions. Edwards would find the back of the cage on a free-position shot at 7:54. Trowbridge saw her first goal of the game from a recently returned to play Alex Krohn. Edwards went on to force a turnover along with Trowbridge on the next Lions possession. The quarter would end with a Trowbridge and Lynch goal. Cox snagged a couple ground balls on defense before the period ended 5-0 in favor of the Pride.
- Two minutes into the second, Edwards pushed the score to 6-0 on an unassisted goal. Polacek kept the attacking Lions quiet with a save before Cox created another turnover. Following the Cox turnover, Mingioni would score a man-up goal with a Jessica Mantz assist for her 22nd goal of the season. Alyssa Ruggerio forced a turnover which transitioned the Pride to a Lynch free-position goal to head into half up 9-0.
- The halftime momentum came out with the Pride as Mingioni saw a forced turnover allowing Lynch to score back-to-back goals to go up 11-0. The Lions would get on the board with 9:34 left in the third. The defense would hold up as Edwards and Trowbridge each came away with turnovers before Krohn scored a goal for her 13th of the season at 5:32. The quarter would end with a Kasey Thornton forced turnover and a Cox forced turnover.
- Madison Warlow would enter the game as goalkeeper for the final 15 minutes of play. At 13:42, Rylie Christy tacked onto the score with an unassisted goal. Thornton saw another forced turnover, giving Maddie Phillips a ground ball at the halfway mark. Ruggiero capped off the offensive side with a man-up unassisted goal at 6:10 as the Pride came away with a 14-5 final.
