CHESTER, Pa. – Widener Women's Lacrosse picks up their third straight conference win on senior day over Hood.

  • The seniors would combine for four goals, three assists, eight ground ball pickups, and five caused turnovers.
HOW IT HAPPENED
  • The Pride opened strong with a quick shot on attack by Chloe Mingioni. A failed Blazers clear would allow Mantz to score the first of the game with a Mingioni assist. Trowbridge picked up a draw control win to allow Lynch to score shortly after on an Alex Krohn pass in. Lynch continued the defensive dominance with a caused turnover. Another at 9:23 would give Kasey Thornton a ground ball and Trowbridge's 30th goal of the season for a 3-0 lead. Trowbridge would snag another draw control win to send Lynch to the cage for a Krohn assisted goal for her 20th of the season. Back-to-back Blazers turnovers on clear attempts would be led by Trowbridge and Thornton before Mingioni scored an unassisted goal to end the quarter up 5-0.
  • To start the second, the Blazers' offense found some offense but Mingioni would help answer with a man-up goal at 10:14. The momentum fell back with the Pride as Trowbridge picked up another draw control before Ava Leporati found the back of the cage on a Krohn assist at 9:01. Makayla Cox would cause a turnover and snag a ground ball on defense to force a Hood timeout. Mantz would end the scoring with two back-to-back goals from Mingioni to head into half up 10-3.
  • To being the third quarter, Lynch would score an unassisted goal just 20 seconds in while the defense would lock the Blazers down with caused turnovers by Alyssa Ruggiero, Cox, Krohn, and Ciana Suydam. A defense stance would allow Lynch to score a free-position goal at 6:18 to take a 12-3 lead. Polacek made two back-to-back saves to hold the attacking Blazers and go on to make a big free-position shot save at 1:15 to help the transition to a Trowbridge unassisted goal. The third ended with the Pride up 13-3.
  • With 15 minutes to play, the Pride offense slowed while the defense did their job. Polacek continued to make key saves while the defense blocked a shot. The Pride would end the game with another Polacek save and Edwards caused turnover to move to .500 on the season while earning a 13-4 win on senior day.
