CHESTER, Pa. – Widener fell short in both games of its conference double header against the York College Spartans.
The Pride are now 13-16 on the season and 5-7 in the MAC Commonwealth.

- Ryan Bauerle was solid at the plate, going 2-3 with two singles.
- Mat Koblos went 2-4 with two singles and also scored a run.
- Kevin Bukowski went 1-4 on the day with a double and two RBIs.
HOW IT HAPPENED GAME 1
- The Spartans started the game off by stringing together a couple of hits in the top of the first to take an early 2-0 lead over the Pride. York didn't take long to strike again, adding on to their lead with a three-run home run in the top of the third. Widener was able to get the offense going in the bottom of the fourth as Brendan Raven hit a single through the right side to drive in Widener's first run of the game.
- After a quiet fifth inning from both offenses, York once again added on to their lead in the top of the sixth, scoring three runs to take an 8-1 lead. The Spartans stayed hot in the top of the seventh, capitalizing on some early walks to add on four more runs. The Pride were not able to rally from the large deficit and would lose by a final score of 12-1.
HOW IT HAPPENED GAME 2
- The second game of the doubleheader started off slowly, with both offenses being stifled through two innings. York broke through in the top of the third, taking advantage of a few infield hits to take a 4-0 lead. The Pride answered in the bottom half of the inning, as Jack Balcer drove in a run with an RBI single through the right side. The Spartans kept their offense going in the top of the fourth, adding on four more runs to increase the lead to 8-1.
- The offenses from both sides were quiet in the fifth and sixth inning before the Spartans offense exploded in the top of the seventh, scoring seven runs in the frame, four of them coming from a grand slam. The Pride were able to get two runs back in the bottom of the seventh with a Kevin Bukowski double but were ultimately fell short and would lose by a final score of 15-3.
