HOW IT HAPPENED IN GAME ONE

  • Neumann struck first in the top of the second, capitalizing on a pair of hits and a defensive miscue to take an early 2-0 lead. Widener responded in the bottom half when Samantha McHugh delivered a clutch two-out, two-run single to tie the game. The visitors regained control with a three-run third inning, but Kaelin Kuester sparked Widener's offense in the fourth, scoring after reaching on a single. McHugh came through again with another two-run hit, bringing the Pride within one. After four innings, Neumann held a narrow 5-4 advantage.

  •  Widener kept battling, and in the sixth, Jocelin Mayorga drove in Sam McCarthy to knot the game at 5-5. However, Neumann answered with two runs in the top of the seventh. The Pride attempted a late rally as Taylor Bell doubled and scored on a groundout, but the comeback fell just short. Despite strong offensive efforts, Widener dropped a tight contest, 7-6.

HOW IT HAPPENED IN GAME TWO

  • Both teams were held scoreless through the first two innings as Bella Smith worked efficiently in the circle for Widener. Neumann broke through with a three-run third inning, but Widener threatened in the bottom of the fourth when Kaelin Kuester doubled and Sam McCarthy singled. Unfortunately, the Pride couldn't push a run across, and the score remained 3-0 heading into the fifth.

  •  Widener rallied in the bottom of the fifth, sparked by a leadoff hit from Elizabeth Carney, who would finish with three hits. Jocelin Mayorga followed with a two-run single to cut the deficit to 3-2. Moments later, Kuester tied the game with an RBI double. The momentum was short-lived, as Neumann plated three runs in the top of the seventh. Widener was unable to mount another comeback, falling 6-3 despite a strong offensive showing led by Carney and Mayorga.
