BY THE NUMBERS: GAME TWOÂ
-
Samantha McHugh led the offense, going a perfect 4-for-4 with two doubles, two RBIs, and a stolen base, accounting for nearly half of Widener's hits.Â

Elizabeth Carney added a hit, scored a run, drew a walk, and stole another base, continuing to create pressure on the basepaths.Â
HOW IT HAPPENED IN GAME ONEÂ
-
Widener and FDU-Florham engaged in a pitcher's duel through the early innings, with Kaitlyn Tong working efficiently in the circle for the Pride. Tong scattered hits but kept FDU-Florham off the board thanks to strong defense behind her, including clean plays from Elizabeth Carney and Paris Balilonis on the infield. The Pride threatened in the third when Alyssa Gomez ripped a double to left-center but was left stranded. After three and a half innings, the game remained scoreless.Â
-
The game stayed tight into the later innings as Tong continued to navigate traffic on the bases. In the top of the seventh, Widener broke through when Bella Smith, who entered as a pinch runner for Gomez after another double, came around to score on a clutch two-out RBI single by Sara Clymer to give the Pride a 1-0 lead. However, FDU-Florham answered with a run of their own in the bottom half to force extras. In the eighth, Widener was held scoreless, and a walk-off single in the bottom of the frame gave FDU the 2-1 victory.Â
HOW IT HAPPENED IN GAME TWOÂ
-
The Pride wasted no time getting the offense rolling in Game 2. In the top of the third inning, Jocelin Mayorga and Elizabeth Carney reached base to set the table, and Alyssa Gomez delivered a sharp two-run double to left-center to give Widener an early 2-0 lead. Samantha McHugh followed with a two-out RBI double later in the frame to make it 3-0 Pride. On the defensive side, Caitlyn Katchur worked out of early trouble, limiting FDU to just one run through the first four innings as Widener carried a 3-1 lead into the fifth.Â
-
Widener padded the lead in the fifth with another productive rally. Back-to-back doubles by McHugh and Kaelin Kuester sparked a two-run inning that extended the lead to 5-1. FDU-Florham chipped away with single runs in the fifth and sixth, but Katchur held firm before handing the ball to Amanda Danz in the seventh. Danz calmly recorded the final three outs, stranding a runner to earn the save and secure the 5-3 win for the Pride.Â
